Creating an Ornament with Live Copy

OK I can hear some of you asking, What’s the big deal about Live Copies? Well, to answer your own question, open a new Edit Inside window and change the fill on the orange section. Save. Now how long would it have taken you to make those changes to each of the other 7 objects live copies?

Because the Live Copies used in this tutorial are vector, and modular, you can rearrange the copies, change the fill behind them, and apply transparency like the Brightness transparency applied to the moonscape photo. And they can be scaled up or down without any loss of sharpness of quality.

Here is another example where I used live copies to create an ornament: The birds are one pair of live copies and the flowers are made up of six live copies, one for each petal. This means all three flowers will be symmetrically updated when I edit one petal.

So if you did the entire tutorial, you will have learned how Live Copy works. (There is more information about Live Copy in the Help menu). And if you toughed it out and hand traced the ornament then you may have gained and/or improved your editing skills.
