Christine Farrelly's Seamless Pattern Collection
by Christine Farrelly (in the real world and on TG)
It’s not glop from Mars, and it’s not a close-up of Hippopotamus skin. Which means this month’s collection of free tiling textures was not created by Gary Bouton. Christine Farrelly had the idea of taking the Celebrated Burgeon Ornaments TG font (), and putting some of the designs into a seamless tiling blender of hers (possibly a Proctor Silex), and the result is unpredictably wonderful. 25 patterns than look like lace, a doily, and everywhere in-between. About 5MB to download as a neat and tidy Zip file—it’ll take less time to download than to watch a funny cats video…
Neat Thing To Do: Paint with one of the Burgeon textures! Import a pattern, and then fill it by choosing the Fill tool, and then Bitmap from the Fill Type drop-down and then choose Repeating Tile from the Fill Tiling drop down directly to the right of the Fill Type drop-down. Choose the Shape Painter tool (available in later version of Designer, like X, 9, or 10), and because the last chosen fill is now your current fill, just paint with the texture. The textures that have alpha channels (half of them do) will let a background color or gradient through!
